On the North East coast of Corfu, on the way to Barbatti, at Pyrgi, lies this beautiful villa, the creation of a Count and a Countess. Having been built a mere ten years ago, Villa Serenity is not old, although it resembles a castle from a fairy tale. From the main road passing through high gates down a long stone walled drive one reaches the house with its rose garden and clipped box hedges.
The estate is on a rise, once a vineyard, above an uninterrupted view of the sea with the silhouette of Corfu Town opposite, across the bay. Two large stone lions mount guard on each side of the front door. Once inside the house and into an imposing entrance hall with its stunning cream and coral marble floor tiles, a faithful modern rendition of those used in old Venetian Palazzos, one is faced by two huge fan shaped windows looking onto a magnificent view of the crystal turquoise blue Ionian Sea.
The house successfully incorporates old Corfiot features such as wooden ceilings with a distinctive design seen in the upstairs bedrooms and hall, heavily beamed ceilings in the drawing room, dining room, upstairs gallery and connecting passageway. Upstairs in each bedroom wooden furniture has been made and painted by local craftsmen.
The gardens, a riot of colour, with roses, bougainvillias geraniums, and many other colourful plants, and the infinity swimming pool, with the painted dolphin and the boy at its centre create a magical surrounding similar to an elegant and graceful Venetian Palazzo.
